President Akufo-Addo mourns with family of late Navro-Pio, Pe Asagpaare

The final funeral rites of the late Navro-Pio, Pe Asagpaare, have been held in Navrongo, the capital of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region. 

Several mourners from all walks of life including various Traditional leaders across the country graced the occasion to display their culture as they pay their last respect to the late chief. 

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo who joined hundreds of mourners to pay their last respect to the bereaved family of the late Navro-Pio, Pe Asagpaare, asked Ghanaians to emulate the late Navro-Pio, by observing the tenets of selflessness and dedication to developing the country. 

The late Navro-Pio, Pe Asagpaare, known in private life as Dr. Agustine Adda was enskinned as the Chief of Navrongo on July 15, 1972 within the Kassena-Nankana traditional area and reigned for close to 43 years until his demise in September 13, 2015. 

He was elected President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs from 1982 to 1984 and was the longest serving President of the Regional House of Chiefs. 

The late Chief was the first of Christian chiefs in the Kassena -Nankana area who openly professed his Christian beliefs. 

Pe Asagpaare, left behind a wife and seven children. 

The occasion had in attendance present and former government officials with heavy security presence. 

As mandated by tradition, the funeral service was characterised by several cultural performances. 

It also included several tributes from well-wishers, the wife of the late chief and the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana's correspondent, Otumfour Osei Tutu Nsumankwahene, Baffour Asabre Kogyawoasu, who represented Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II, described the late chief as an industrious son of Ghana who had contributed to the development of his Traditional Area and the country at large. 

He extended the Otumfour's condolences to the family and the people in the area.
