Ghana card: Over 2,000 Commissioners of Oath to be deployed at registration centres

The Judicial Service is training more than two thousand Commissioners of Oath to be attached to the National Identification Authority officials at all the registration centres for Ghanaians who cannot provide the documents acquisition of the Ghana Card.  

Director of Co-operate Affairs at the National Identification Authority, Abdul Ganiyu, said citizens without the required documentation take an oath at the registration centre to be registered. 

On the Minority boycott of the Ghana Card registration, Mr. Ganiyu described it as unfortunate, saying the same Minority at the committee level hailed the bill as without controversy. 

He said the cost of the entire project is $293 million and therefore the figures circulating in the public domain are not accurate.

The MP for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fusieni said the NDC as a Party has not asked any of its members not to register for the Ghana Card. 

He said the NIA interpretation of the Supreme Court ruling on the Abu Ramadan case on the use of the NHIS card, for which it has ruled out the use of the voter ID card, is their concern.

A Policy analyst, Dr. Ebenezer Ashley said the 14 distinctive features on the card make it very unique. 

He however called on the registration officials to be vigilant to flash out non Ghanaians who will try to pose as Ghanaians to register.
