Ban on small scale mining will not be lifted until water bodies in mining areas are safe for drinking The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources John Peter Amewu, says the ban on small scale mining will not be lifted until the country's water bodies in the mining areas are safe for drinking. According to him, the current state of water bodies in mining areas including the Offin, Ankobra among others which continue to be contaminated is evident that illegal small scale mining is still going on. Mr. Amewu said this when he addressed the Chiefs and traditional leaders of the Denkyira Traditional Council at Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region during a courtesy call on the Chiefs as part of his working visit to the region.
