DR. OBENGFO DENIED BAIL

An Accra high court has denied the embattled medical practitioner and proprietor of the Obenfo hospital, Dr. Dominic Kwame Obeng Andoh  bail. 

The medical practitioner is in court seeking bail on the charge of murder leveled against him at an Accra district court after the death of the former deputy boss of NEIP, Stacy Offei Darko.

Presiding judge Justice, Kofi Dorgu in his ruling said that though the late Stacy Ofei  Darko went o the medical facility voluntarily, the doctor had no right to embalm the victim without the consent of his family.

Justice Dorgu also said the application for bail is premature at this time when the autopsy report is not ready.

He therefore asked that they apply at a later date upon receipt of the autopsy report.

The second accused who is the cleaner who took the victim to the mortuary and posed as a relative of the victim has however, been granted bail.

He was granted bail in a sum of twenty thousand Cedis (GH ¢20,000) with two sureties. 

He is also to deposit his passport at the registry and continue to attend trial at the circuit court.

Justice Dorgo concluded by saying there is no evidence that the second accused played a role in the death of Stacy Offei Darko.
