Cocoa Sector records increase in production Government says it has worked to increase Cocoa production from eight hundred thousand metric tonnes per annum to one million. Sector Minister Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie Akoto whose Ministry took its turn in the 'Meet the Press' series in Accra today said though prices of Cocoa has gone done from three thousand dollars per tonne to one thousand eight hundred dollars on the international market, government continues to pay producers the same prices despite the fall. Dr.Akoto Afriyie announced that Ghana is in constant talks with Cote d'lvoire, leading producer of Cocoa in order to leverage its achievements to improve the sector. Dr.Akoto Afriyie also announced plans to revamp the cattle industry.. He said South Africa's delegation that visited the country recently identified the sector's potential to produce high quality dairy products such as milk for export at a higher cost.
