Ghana marks International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Ghana joins the World today to observe International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The UN sees today as an opportunity to expression its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. The global observance aims to raise awareness about the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society. This year's campaign is under the banner ; "LISTEN FIRST - Listening to children and youth is believed to be the first step to help children grow healthy and safe". This is a UN Office on Drugs and Crime's initiative to increase support for prevention of drug use that is based on science and is an effective investment in the well-being of children and youth, their families and communities.
