NADMO is considering working at securing the mandate to demolish buildings

The National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO says it is considering working at securing the mandate to demolish buildings. 

For now, the Metropolitan Assemblies have the sole mandate to do that. Chairman of the Hydo-Met Technical Committee, NADMO, Wise Ametepe, made this known on GBCs Current Affairs Programme, Talking Point which discussed floods in Accra. 

He said, there seems to be some kind of politics in most cases which makes it difficult for authorities to demolish structures obstructing flow of water. 

Director at the Land Use and Spartial Planning Authority, Alfred Akwasi Opoku wondered why government should come in before people move from flood prone areas.
