GPHA workers retracts allegations against Board chairman 

Four local workers unions of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, GPHA, have retracted allegations levelled against the Board Chairman of the Authority, Peter Mac Manu and some members of his family.

At a news conference in Accra, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Union of the GPHA, John Aseeph said the allegations made at a media briefing in Takoradi last month was not out of malice. 

He said although the groups have serious concerns about happenings at the Authority, they have realised that there was not much engagement with management hence their apology to the Board Chairman and his family.

The workers accused their board chairman of awarding to himself a contract for the wiring of a newly constructed electrical and material block at the Port.

They also accused Mr. Mac Manu of running a family and friends administration by awarding various contracts to his wife and children.

Mr Mac Manu has however refuted these claims and has threatened a court action against the workers if they fail to retract the allegations.
