African leaders challenged to strengthen China partnership


African leaders have been challenged to play roles that will strengthen Sino-African Strategic Partnership to ensure mutual benefit. 

The Partnership among other initiatives is geared towards leveraging people-to-people exchanges for a win-win situation. 

The President of the Research and Training Institute of the State Administration of Radio and Television of China, Men Lijun stated this at the opening of a three week training programme for senior media personnel from English-Speaking African Countries in Beijing, China. 

He noted that as developing societies, China and Africa are faced with unique opportunities for fast growth and complicated global challenges. 

To this end, both parties should cooperate and give full support to the partnership to achieve common development. 

The Chinese Government sponsored training programme is aimed at equipping participants with new skills in information Technology, new media platforms as well as promote media cooperation and Sino-African partnership. 

Welcoming participants to the programme, Mr. Lijun observed that over the years, Sino-African relations have withstood the test of an evolving international landscape, and have maintained the momentum of vigorous development. 

He said since 2005, the Institute has devoted to building an extensive and effective international exchange platform in the field of radio and television, and delivered tangible results.

As of the end 2017, nearly 3,377 representatives from 146 countries of five continents have participated in training activities hosted by the Institute. 

The Director of the International Training Department of the Radio and Television Training Institute, ZHU JIADI said the media is playing important role in many kinds of international issues and the Chinese Government wants to establish a bridge between Chinese media and the media in developing countries to help in people -to- people exchanges of ideas and promote cooperation and friendship.

She said the senior African Journalists were invited to China to open China to them to know the real China in terms of its economic prospects, culture,  history and technological advancement. 

The programme according Madam JIADI is also to give opportunities to Chinese media persons to also know more about media development in Africa to help them to find ways to cooperate for mutual benefit. 


She said the programme will also help address challenges faced by traditional media with the advent of new media, adding that experts in new media development will take participants through ways to take advantage of new media to enhance their work. 

The selected journalists will visit some top companies in new media technology development and applications in China to learn how to deploy such media tools to better reach their audience and participate in the Fourth CHINA-AFRICA Media Forum.
