The Ghanaian Times is saddened by the way some communities resort to violent ways to resolve conflicts instead of dialoguing for a peaceful resolution. Even more worrying to the Times is the decision by some of these communities to go back to Government to appeal for projects to help them to develop their areas after fighting to destroy these same projects. According to the paper, any community that stands for development must stop engaging itself in such senseless conflicts and rather concentrate on sustaining the development agenda for their people. The paper is therefore making a passionate appeal to all, especially chiefs, opinion leaders and assembly members to prevent violence when they are faced with challenges or carefully manage conflicts so it does not turn into violent attacks.  


Writing under the headline, ''development agreement good for mining industry, the Daily Graphic  says the quantum of revenue and related benefits that the country can get from the mining sector depends on the provisions in the national mining legislation which defines the amount of taxes and incentive packages for investors. Even though many have argued that the list of mining-related equipment and items exempted from customs and import duties, value added tax, corporate income tax, the huge offshore sales, revenue retention and the payments of royalties at the lowest allowable rate will constrain government revenue generation. The says mining is a competitive global industry hence the country must draw a balance between securing as much as it can from mining revenues and retaining the country's global attractiveness to industry investors who have a choice as to where to invest.
