NDC urged to undertake house-cleaning and sober reflection

A candidate vying for the Vice-Chairmanship position at Okaikoi Central constituency in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections, Hassan Braimah has urged all and sundry in the race to undertake a deep sober reflection while they clean their houses before they canvass for votes from delegates.

He said the party and its delegates should bury their differences by extending the olive branch to all manner of persons aggrieved or mistreated in any form.

Addressing delegates when three contestants of the party met with delegates to deliver their campaign message at Tesano Junior High School in the constituency, he said the party in general is losing touch with the grassroot, youth and women’s wing of the party and called on the leadership to reverse the trend.

Mr. Braimah said the constituency can wrestle power from the ruling opposition party if workable and practical measures are put in place adding that, as part of his 6-prong agenda, with all hands on deck, that mission can certainly be achieved.

According to him, elections are initially won at the grassroot or constituency level, therefore all efforts must be geared towards consolidating the gains and taking concrete measures to retain and win new voters.

He appealed to the delegates to give him the nod to be able to implement his agenda to realize the vision of winning back power to the constituency.

According to him, data collection, among others, will be his key agenda to ensure that the party has a massive base of voters in the constituency, adding that the aim is to target fresh voters who will vote in the next elections as a contingency measure.

The candidate said he has put in place a well-thought out plan which is designed to cater for the needs of the youth and women’s wing of the party in terms of job and education and urged all delegates to rally behind him.

“We are social democrats as a party and as such we must be working to appeal to the masses to cater for their lot in any form”, he said.

An executive contestant, Mr. Emmanuel Bansah, one of other eight executives without portfolio to support party work at the constituency, urged the delegates to do a keen assessment and vote for the deserving candidate to push the cause of the constituency.

He advised delegates to set aside acrimony and bitterness and work as a team to ensure that the constituency gets a Parliamentarian.

A Deputy Treasurer contestant, Mr. Eden Atitsogbe urged the candidates to give him the nod to be able to execute the noble vision of establishing an asset register to account for all donations in cash or kind which will be made public for all.

He said he will work with the substantive to set up a strong treasury office and work with the finance committee to record and account twice a year with a financial statement to all members.

The initiative, he said he is to ensure transparency, probity and accountability which are the core values of the party, added that she will help enlighten delegates on the affairs of exiting and incoming executives.
