AMA moves to desilt choked drains caused by rains The Accra Metropolitan Assembly, AMA, says it is taking assessment of the flooding situation in the metropolis. It has therefore dispatched personnel to desilt choked drains caused by the downpour. Public Relations Officer of the AMA, Gilbert Ankrah, said the AMA has taken notice of the havoc caused by the rain on pavements at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle area and will soon move in to fix it. He said the Assembly is doing its best to ensure that flooding in the Metropolis is reduced to the barest minimum. On the issue of a landfill site, Mr. Ankrah said the Ministry of Sanitation has directed that the Kpone landfill site be opened. He said the AMA is piloting rubbish segregation to help in recycling.
