Hong Kong's fish are eating plastic - and people could be too - Researchers 


Many fishes in Hong Kong have ingested tiny particles of plastic which could end up being eaten by humans, according to research by universities and Greenpeace.

Researchers say they found 80 pieces of plastic in one fish.

Reports say Hong Kong has struggled to combat plastic waste, with the Education University of Hong Kong saying beaches have on average 5,000 pieces of microplastic per square meter — 2.4 times higher than the U.S. microplastic concentration level.

Hong Kong, a city of more than 7 million people, deposits around two thirds of its 5.6 million tonnes of annual waste in landfill, very little is recycled.
