Former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi fights back

Former President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has vowed to fight corruption allegations levelled against him following the investigative documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

In a nine page -statement, Mr Nyantakyi responded to  the allegations explaining what he says is his side of the story in the matter that resulted in his suspension from the World Football Governing Body, FIFA.

Mr. Nyantakyi stated that there was a demand on him through a third party to part with 150 thousand dollars for Anas Aremeyaw Anas, to drop the videos on him but he did not have such amount of money to meet the demand.

Police has charged him with defrauding by false pretence after the exposé, on grounds that he allegedly used the names of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to extort money from some investors. In the statement he said he did not receive any money for himself or on behalf of the President, the Vice President or any other senior Government official. 

The statement also seeks to clarify that neither the President, Vice President, Ministers, Deputy Ministers nor Senior Government officials had prior knowledge or subsequent knowledge of all the discussions contained in the video. 

He has asked the Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to release the unedited video devoid of commentary to the Ghanaian public because the public is capable of forming the right conclusion after seeing the full video. 

He assured all his friends and loved ones that he is determined to deal with the matter in accordance with the law as well as the most ethical and professional standards.
