Libya's National Oil Corporation warns of environmental disaster

Libya's National Oil Corporation has warned of an environmental disaster because of two huge oil storage tanks, set ablaze during fighting by a militia, known as the Petroleum Facilities Guard. 

The corporation is therefore urging the immediate withdrawal of forces opposed to the Libyan military strongman, General Khalifa Haftar. 

His self-styled Libyan National Army has controlled the oil-producing region, which is crucial to the country's economy, since 2016. 

A rival militia, known as the Petroleum Facilities Guard, began its attack on Thursday which has killed at least 28 people.
