Eastern Corridor trenches becoming deathtraps- Togbe Asemtsrya 

Paramount Chief of Have,Togbe Asemtsrya has expressed concern over many uncovered trenches dug by contractors working on the Eastern Corridor road through the Have township.

He said the trenches, with many filled by rainwater have become death-traps and asked that the situation be corrected.Togbe Asemtsrya was addressing the climax of this year's Agadevi at Have, near Ho in the Volta Region. 

Agadevi is a festival celebrated to thank God for saving the traditional area from a major landslide in June, 1933.

The celebration was on the theme; “Redefining Our Development Aspirations”.

Togbe Asemtsrya said the trenches are also causing erosion and flooding in parts of the town and needs to be fixed as a matter of urgency.

He said the compensation paid to people whose houses were demolished in Have for construction of the Eastern Corridor road project was not sufficient, because the affected persons say the money is not enough to enable them put up new houses.

The people are thefore calling on government to intervene.

The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Maxwell Qophy Blagodzi, observed that festivals are increasingly becoming the pivot for organising resources for the development of communities and asked the chiefs and people of Have to use the festival to rally support for infrastructural development.

DCE for Afadzato, Wisdom Senadza, assured the people that issues concerning the Eastern Corridor road will be addressed soon.
