The Daily Heritage has called Ghanaians to be sanitation ambassadors. Due to uncultured habits, some parts of the capital get very dirty so much that those places become the hub of infestation and habitats for the spread of contagious diseases. According to the paper, during torrential rains, it is common to find what it describes ill-bred individuals throwing piled-up garbage into running waters. It believes, that although there have been series of campaigns to rid the city of filth, attitudes are not changing. The Heritage supports the Accra Metropolitan Assembly's call on Ghanaians to play a role in making Accra clean. The paper is urging all to be part of the move to make it successful because when the dirty environment leads to an epidemic, all will be at risk.

While celebrating the day, the paper advised families to embrace family planning services to ensure they have the number of children they wish to have and can better care for to avoid having so many children they cannot take care of.
