About 5000 maternal deaths recorded at health facilities in last five years

Nearly five thousand maternal deaths have been recorded at health facilities in the last five years with only 85 per cent audited. 

A quarter of these deaths were caused by Haemorrhage.

The Director of Family Health at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Aboagye made this known during an overview of reproductive health of maternal, newborn, child and Adolescent health Programme in Accra. 

Dr Aboagye said most of the health centres across the country are operating under low capacity with no equipment to solve major health problems. 

He called for investment in Primary health care.
