World Cup 2018 live: Portugal vs Spain

Portugal are ahead at the break after a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo gave his side the lead against Spain.

Ronaldo earned a penalty off Madrid team-mate Nacho Fernandez. He stepped up to the spot to take it and sent De Gea the wrong way to open the scoring.

Spain's David Silva, who had been prolific in World Cup qualifying, was presented with a chance to equalise, but he blazed his effort over the bar.

They drew level in the 25th minute when Diego Costa fended off the Portuguese defence to power home their equaliser.

The Spaniards almost went in front when Isco thundered home a shot which hit the crossbar and bounced out.

Fernando Hierro's men were constantly peppering the Portugal goal, with Koke seeing his flick whistle just past the post.

Portugal took the lead just before half-time as Ronaldo's left-footed effort went through the legs of De Gea.
