The Daily Graphic says staggering figures on the rise in mental health cases in the country demands concerted efforts to ensure treatment and care for the mentally ill. The paper is disappointed that out of the over 450 million people who suffer from mental conditions globally, as many as 270 million do not receive any form of care due to the stigma attached to the condition, and the reluctance of family members to identify themselves with sufferers. Although the paper agrees that there are challenges existing in mental hospitals, it believes that managing and treating mentally ill patients need partnership between mental health professionals and family members of the patients. The Paper calls on government to adequately resource social welfare institutions so that they can provide the needed support for families to drastically reduce the figures of mental patients in the country.

The Ghanaian Times is of the opinion that the misunderstanding caused by the issuance of the ''Ghana Card'' can be resolved. The paper, therefore urges MPs, who claim to be masters of their own rules to resolve their differences amicably. To the paper, entrenched positions by the NIA and the Minority must be trashed out so it does not disturb the registration exercise. It calls on the august House to take steps to resolve the impasse between the two so that citizens are not bogged down by unnecessary politicking over an issue that can easily be resolved through a legislative procedure.

The Daily Heritage expresses concern over the abuse of employees at workplaces. The paper says the fear of being victimised in work places has made some Ghanaian workers remain silent even when they are being cheated by their employers. The paper entreats workers to report employers who abuse them and refuse to pay their monthly pension contributions.

The Business and Financial Times says the three development authorities that were inaugurated by the President recently fit perfectly with the country’s decentralisation drive to devolve power to the base and give people more say in what the development priorities of their areas should be. The paper believes the authorities will serve as the perfect instrument to devolve power to Ghanaians and give them more say in the affairs of the country.
