Islamic Scholar urges Muslims to live in peace The Ashanti Regional Chairman of Islamic Education Unit, Dr. Sheikh Osman Bawa Hafiz Olando has exhorted Muslims to live in peace, reconciliation with everyone and celebrate tomorrow's Eid with moderation. They should also let the lessons of Ramadan, which include alms giving, self discipline and forgiveness continue to guide their religious lives even after the month long fasting. He urged muslims to extort the good virtues that the Quran enjoins them to pursue and eschew negative tendencies that would render the Ramadan useless. Dr. Sheikh Bawa Hafiz Olando made this remarks during presentation of items worth over 50 thousand Ghana Cedis to five hundred orphans and widows in Kumasi by Rayyan Programmes foundation, a humanitarian service based in Kumasi. The items include, five hundred live birds, five hundred five kilogram of rice, wax cloths, second hands clothing and shoes, assorted drinks, biscuits and mattresses. As Muslim, Allah enjoins them to live peaceably among themselves and with those who are not of the Islamic faith. Muslims should therefore not countenance violence. He used the ocassion to advised muslims to equally support other faiths particularly christians during their festivities since they also donate to the course of the foundation. Dr. Hafiz Olando entreated Muslims in the country to pray not just for national economic recovery, but importantly for sustained national peace. According to him, it is incumbent on every true Muslim to always seek the prosperity and general good of the nation since any insecurity in the larger society could negatively impact on the religious lives of all the residents. The founder and the Leader of Rayyan Foundation and Chief Imam of AL-JALAL mosque, Sheikh, Ismail Saeed Attabio asked the youth to depend only on Allah for survival and avoid acts that are likely to jeopardize their future. He said as a Muslim, Allah enjoins them to live peaceably among themselves and with those who are not of the Islamic faith. Muslims should therefore not countenance violence.
