Sports Analyst faults government's approach to cleaning GFA

Sports Analyst, Henry Asante Twum, says government's approach to clean the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is wrong. 

He said if government wants to purge the Ghana Football Association of corruption, freezing all its activities is not the best approach.  

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme “FOCUS,” Mr. Asante Twum says the Ghana Football Association and football in general employs about seven thousand people and therefore stopping these people will be detrimental. 

He said government should have made all those implicated in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas expose to step aside for the association to continue to run as government takes steps to clean the FA.

The Programmes Manager of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Mary Awelena Ada says there should be stringent laws which clearly spell out how to deal with corruption in associations and independent groupings.

A Private Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu, said government after the expiration of the ten days injunction against GFA can apply to the court for extension. 

He said government can apply for longer time, as long as the case may travel. 

He, however, noted that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) can also contest the injunction in court to set it aside.
