Road traffic accidents increase in 2018

Statistics show that one thousand and eight Ghanaians have been killed in road accidents between January and May this year. 

This is more than ten percent over last year. 

The Road Safety Commission says the rise in the carnage on the roads is alarming and worrying. 

The Public Affairs Manager of the National Road Safety Commission, Kwame Atuahene, said a more concerted collaborative effort would be put in place to regulate the operations of high occupancy vehicles which are causing the accidents. 

Meanwhile, the National Vice Chair of the GPRTU, Robert Sabah, agrees with the National Road Safety Commission that the increase in the spate of road accident is worrying. 

He told George Ankrah that the Union has stepped up its three month education and training of the drivers. 

He also spoke about the caution and sanctions the union has triggered for those who are reckless on the road.
