Asiedu Nketia hints of constitutional crisis over EC impasse 

General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is cautioning that Ghana risk a Constitutional crisis because of the incessant controversy at the Electoral Commission. 

He said since the 2016 election, the Inter-Party Advisory Committee, IPAC has not met to discuss anything. 

Furthermore, a scheduled meeting to review the 2016 elections has failed to materialize. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana's Felix Cofie, Mr Asiedu Nketia said the 2016 polls have also not been gazetted for anybody who has issues with the results to go to Court. 

These and other issues, he said, have all not been resolved almost two years after the elections which is likely to create problems for the next elections in 2020.

Mr Asiedu Nketia said preparations for any elections take four years and looking at the time lost, the EC should not come and spring any surprises on the Parties. 

The NDC General Secretary, said the Parties are expecting a meeting with the EC to explain how its system was hacked into during the 2016 polls and find solutions going forward.

Meanwhile, governance expert Dr. Eric Oduro Osae says the current state of the EC is of serious concern for any Ghanaian. 

He said if the principal actor that manages the country's elections is having problems, it should be of utmost concern to all.
