Need to protect ocean from plastic pollution The Executive Director of the Centre for Maritime Law and Security Africa, Captain Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali says there are multitudes of benefits that can derived from the ocean. Marking today’s World Ocean Day on GBC’s Uniiq Breakfast Drive on the theme; ‘Preventing Pollution and Encouraging Solution for a Healthy Ocean’, Dr. Ali emphasized the need to protect the ocean from excessive plastic waste and pollutes the ocean and marine life. Dr. Ali noted that people who live along the coast derive a lot of economic benefits from fishing activities and therefore asked Ghanaians to identify what could be done to preserve the source of their livelihood and maintain a friendly cultural relationship with the maritime space.
