Petroleum Sector: Cabinet gives assent to Local Content and Participation Policy Cabinet has given assent to the Ghanaian Local Content and Participation Policy for the Petroleum downstream sector. This means when passed into law, all new entrants who want to participate in the downstream sector must be a wholly owned Ghanaian company. The Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko who made this known at the Ghana International Petroleum Conference stressed that the policy will also be applicable to the aviation, mining and construction companies. Mr Boakye Agyarko also added that as part of efforts to ensure quality petroleum products, steps have been put in place to sanitise the industry. He said following the directive of the International Maritime Organisation to reduce the sulphur content in petroleum, the National Petroleum Authority has given out guidelines to operators to follow.
