GJA again defends ace investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas

The General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association, GJA, Edmund Kofi Yeboah says the GJA still stands by its defence of the modus operandi of Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. 

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme “Behind the News,” Mr. Yeboah said what Anas is doing is in the interest of the public, adding that it falls within the code of ethics of the GJA.

Meanwhile, the Corporate Affairs Manager of Ghana Integrity Initiative, Michael Boadi says the fight against corruption should be done in a way so as not to infringe on the rights of private citizens.  

Speaking on Behind the News on the way Anas Aremeyaw Anas goes about gathering his information on corrupt persons, Mr. Boadi said Mr. Anas may not have conducted his investigations using a more open and conventional method. 

However, his investigation was for the public good. He maintained that obtaining evidence particularly on issues of corruption can be a difficult task.

A Legal Practitioner, Yaw Oppong says only a Court of competent jurisdiction can determine whether the privacy of a citizen or an individual has been invaded. 

Contributing to ongoing debate on the mode of obtaining information by investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Lawyer Oppong said it is important that information is obtained but must be done with circumspection. 

Lawyer Oppong said much as Ghanaians would want investigations done on issues of corruption, they would also want to guard their privacy.
