Basic Education Certificate Examination begins Today

A total of 509,824 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which starts Today, Monday, June 4, 2018.
      
The candidates are from 16,058 schools and the exams will be conducted at 1,768 centres across the country.
      
The examination body, the West African Examination Council (WAEC), has been called upon by Parliament to go the extra mile to prevent any leakage of the papers.
      
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Education Committee of Parliament, Siaka Stevens, urged the students to resist any temptation to cheat and reminded them that there are no shortcuts to success.
      
Meanwhile, WAEC has cautioned the candidates, to be wary of operators of "rogue" websites who peddle fake examinations papers as authentic ones.
