GES to open 3-week window for BECE candidates’ placement

The Ghana Education Service (GES), management says it is aware  that students of various Junior High Schools across the country have not been able to make selection into Senior High Schools.

A statement signed by the head of Public Relations, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said all the candidates will have up to three weeks after writing their BECE to do their school selections. 

The statement assures all candidates not to be distracted by this development as there is no cause for alarm.

Meanwhile, 46,993 candidates from 1,895 basic schools in the 32 municipalities and districts of the Eastern Region are to write the BECE next Monday.

The Eastern Regional Director of Education, Gertrude Mensah, who spoke to GBC's Radio Ghana said this year’s figure shows an increase of 5% over that of last year which was 44,049. 

According to her, 1,314 Public Junior High Schools are taking part in the examination while 518 are Private. 

Madam Mensah said the candidates will write the BECE at 134 centres made up 68 Senior High and Technical Schools and 66 Junior High Schools.

She advised the candidates, supervisors and invigilators to help conduct the examinations free of malpractices.
