31st May, 2018 The Daily Heritage has expressed support and interest in the assurance by the Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, that the government would soon hook residential and non-residential facilities of all ministries, departments and agencies to solar power to reduce the load on the national grid. The paper says it is indeed a laudable idea and should not be left to just words, but there should be commitment to implement the plan so that Ghanaians would enjoy a permanent and stable supply. The Ghanaian Times commends the JAK foundation and the World Food Programme for commissioning a research to dissect the country's agricultural challenges. It hopes the study come out with recommendation to tackle the problem head on, in order to ensure that nobody goes hungry as in the country. The paper also reiterates the point made by the researchers that government’s commitment to donor- funded projects has been insignificant and urges it to redouble its commitment to the agriculture sector and ensure value for money through monitoring and evaluation. The Times endorses the ‘Planting For Food And Jobs’ initiative which it believes when well implemented, has the potential to arrest the decline in agriculture production in the country.
