Gov't to upgrade Health Facilities Nationwide  

The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu has gave an assurance that, his Ministry is working with Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and other stakeholders to improve some selected Health Centres nationwide.

He made these pronouncements when turned upon Parliament to answer five Constituency-based questions in relation to The Health Sector.

Answering a question asked by MP for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah as to when Tsito-Awudome Health Centre will be upgraded to Polyclinic status?, The Minister said, the government is sourcing for funds for the upgrade and rehabilitation of facilities and  Tsito~Awudome will commence as planned when funds are made available, adding that,  "The Ministry of Health is aware that the population of Tsito-Awudome is growing and as part of our policy it will require a much wider service package than it has currently. This means that the Health Centre will need to be upgraded to a polyclinic so as to attract the required facilities and staff."

According to him, Kpedze Health Centre  in  the same Constituency will also be upgraded to a District Hospital, when funds are available.



In related development, The Sector Minister said, he's  aware that the population of Mafi~Kumase is growing and as part of government policy, Mafi-Kumase Health Centre will be upgraded to a polyclinic so as to attract the required facilities and staff that it deserves to serve better.

He mentioned that, "The Ministry is seeking budgetary allocation from the Ministry of Finance", to do it.

Still on health issues, "the Ministry of Health is aware that the population of Nabdam is growing and as part of our policy it will require a much wider service package than it has currently.

 This means that the Health Centre will need to be upgraded to a hospital so as to attract the required facilities and staff."

Mr. Manu stated that, this has already been considered in the four year Capital Investment Plan and the Ministry has started negotiations for concessionary funding towards its implementation. 
 
On the question of when The Heath Centre at Adeiso, The Capital of Upper West Akim District, will be upgraded to a Hospital status, this was what the Minister has said, "Adeiso is currently ranked 5th in the Eastern Region for the upgrading of facilities into a Hospital. Presently, the government is sourcing for funds for the provision of Hospitals for every District, Upper West Akim will surely come on board when funds are made available."
