GES Council Appeals For Restraint As Gov't Works To Release Grants To SHS

The Chairman of the Ghana Education Service Council, Michael Nsowah, has appealed to Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary School (CHASS), to exercise restraint as the Minister of Education and officers work tirelessly to ensure they receive grants owed by government.  

Seven weeks after re-opening of schools, government is yet to release grants for the Seniro Hifh School (SHS) Secretariat for the smooth running of schools. 

Speaking on our news and current affairs programme ‘Behind the News,’ Mr. Nsowah said the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System, GIFMIS Process is cumbersome and should be blamed for the delay in releasing monies to the school. 

He said the GIFMIS Process is slow but cannot be done away with as it serves as a check to ensure value for money.
