Upper East: Lab scientists' strike poses challenges Patients seeking laboratory services in all public health facilities in the Upper East Region are referred to private laboratories because of the ongoing strike by members of the Ghana Association of Laboratory Scientists. The Association members are fighting for better conditions of service and discrepancies in their salaries which according to them had existed for about six years after the introduction of the Single Spine Pay Policy among other demands. When GBC's Samuel Ayammah visited some facilities, he observed that operators of various private laboratories in the region had taken advantage of the situation to invade these facilities for samples for diagnostic investigations. Some patients and relatives at the Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga who spoke to Radio Ghana, said the strike is posing a lot of challenges including extra financial burden on them. They appealed to government to negotiate with members of the Association to enable them resume work as soon as possible. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
