Today marks one year anniversary of Major Mahama’s Death Today marks exactly one year when Major Maxwell Adam Mahama was murdered at Diaso in the Upper Denkyira District of the Central Region, on suspicion of being a robber. It was reported that, late Major Mahama, an officer with the 5th Infantry Battallion of the Ghana Army had gone for his usual morning walk on May 29, 2017, when residents attacked and clubbed him to death at Denkyira Obuasi. The murder generated a national outrage, leading to the arrest of about 120 residents for their alleged involvement in the incident. The young soldier was promoted posthumously to the rank of a full Major, by President Akufo-Addo. Also Parliament in November, last year gave a legal backing for the establishment of a fund to cater for the wife and two children of Major Adam Mahama with the passage of the Major Mahama Trust Fund Bill, 2017.
