29th may, 2018 The Daily Graphic calls on the Ghana Highway Authority to deal with the Mallam- Kasoa gridlock as its creating problems to commuters who have no alternative roads to use. As the population increases, with its attendant urbanisation, there is the need to build more roads and streets to accommodate new development. The Daily Graphic said huge budgetary allocations should made to construct more roads, expand existing ones and put old ones into shape. It therefore feels disappointed when roads are unable to serve their purpose, whether temporarily or otherwise. The paper is in no way downplaying the positive effects that the construction of the drainage will have on the overall socio-economic life of Accra, as it will help deal with the perennial flooding in most parts of the city. The Daily Graphic says it is of view that the Ghana Highway Authority could have done better if best practices have been followed. The paper therefore urges the authority to liase with Pambrose Salt limited to open its access route to Dansoman for vehicular use to reduce the needless suffering of commuters. The Today Newspaper describes as surprising comments by former President Jerry John Rawlings against his colleague former Presidents Agyekum Kufuor and John Mahama. Ex-President Rawlings openly described his two successors in unprintable words which undermines the high offices of states they once occupied. The paper does not believe that the former President is sacrosanct or someone who is without blemish and but asserting .The paper takes delight in the fact that he had a deep reflection on his comments and has rendered an unqualified apology and a subsequent withdrawal . The Heritage cautions Mr Rawlings to be decorous and also exercise a high level of restraint in expressing his views and concerns on issues and matters of national concern. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
