Macro-economic success to affect Ghanaians soon - Veep Dr. Bawumia The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the successes chalked up in managing the macro sector of the economy will soon trickle down for the benefits of all Ghanaians. He explained that, initiatives such as the development authorities will be resourced to meet the specific development challenges of communities under each authority. This will be done through the provision of the cedi equivalent of the one million dollars per constituency. The Vice President said this during an interaction with the Omanhene of the Wassa Amenfi traditional area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sakyim at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region. He was in the region to solidarize with the Muslim fraternity during the month of Ramadan. He later visited the Wassa Akropong and Prestea central mosques where he worshipped with the Muslim faithful and also presented bags of rice, sugar and tea bags to the widows, old men and the imams. Dr. Bawumia said, the three development authorities for the southern, middle belt and the northern sectors will receive twenty percent of the country's annual capital expenditure budget for development at the local level. This and many other interventions such as the Nation Builders Corps, Planting for Food and Jobs are all part of measures put in place to alleviate the suffering of the people, particularly the unemployed graduates in the system. On the call for the lifting of the ban on small scale mining, Dr. Bawumiah said, government will soon come out with a comprehensive policy on small scale mining to rnsure that, mining is done in a regulated and environmentally sustainable manner. The Omanhene of the Wassa Amenfi traditional area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sakyim commended government for the numerous initiatives aimed at putting the economy on a sound footing.
