Support E-Billing & E-Payment system -GWCL tells Ghanaians


The Chief Manager, Commercial of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Accra Gyakabene Kwasi Amponsem asked Ghanaians to support the company in the e-billing and e-payment it is rolling out. 

Mr. Amponsem made the call when he launched the Upper West Regional version of “LIFT 2018” in Wa. 

In this report, Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo says the event was also used to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at two levels. 

The first level MOU was signed by the Upper West Regional Chief Manager of GWCL, Ing. Martin Kofi Ansah-Asante and Mr. Gyakabene Kwasi Amponsem.

The second level MOU was between Ing. Ansah-Asante and the Wa District Manager of GWCL, David Bright Buadi. The Regional Distribution Manager, Ing. Edward Agyekum witnessed the MOU. 

“LIFT 2018” is an eight-month reform process which started on the first of May this year and it will end on 31st December 2018.  

LIFT which is a target-setting process to up the company’s game in customer satisfaction stands for Leveraging Innovation and Technology for Financial Sustainability through Teamwork. 

Mr. Amponsem observed that reform is a good thing to embark upon, saying before the first phase of the program, which was High Impact Performance Improvement Program (HIPIP), GWCL was collecting on average, between 16 and 17million Ghana Cedis a month  nationwide but last month, it managed to collect 60 million Ghana Cedis.  

He said the reform secretariat in Accra has also been affected by “reform” adding that “hitherto it was gathering Regional and District Managers to one-talk shop anywhere in the country to launch the program”.  

Mr. Amponsem continued that the new orientation of Secretariat is that it wants GWCL workers in all regions across the country to be part of the reform-launching process hence the Wa event. 

GWCL has about four thousand 600 employers including National Service Personnel and temporary workers. 

With “LIFT 2018”, GWCL as well as other utility entities are gearing towards commercial viability and financial sustainability. He commended the staff for their efforts towards making the reform a success. 

Mr. Amponsem told the workers not be discouraged by the targets set in the MOU, saying the challenges they will come across will not be new and charged them to contact colleagues in other regions to help them surmount the challenges. 

The Upper West Regional Chief Manager of GWCL, Ing. Ansah-Asante described the launch of LIFT 2018 as a historical step and assured that they work fervently to achieve the targets set in the MOU. 

The Ladies Association and the Union in Upper West pledged their support to the reform process.
