AU Day in Eastern region

The Centre for National Culture, for the first time, organized a debate for two University Colleges namely the Akwapim Campus Presby University 

College and the Koforidua Technical University. 

The topic debated on was “Corruption, a legacy left by our Colonial Masters”. 

According to the Regional Director of CNC, Stephen Sedofu, the purpose was to use the day to unite the universities in the region like how different countries in Africa be it Francophone or Anglophone, came together to form the African Union formerly known as Organization of African Unity at Addis Ababa in Ethiopia 55 years ago. 

Others also used the day to visit the places of tourist attraction in the region. At the Boti Falls at Boti near Huhunya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, the Board Chairman of the Falls, Richard Afram, said the tourists comprising individuals, families, churches and educational institutions, came from the Central, Eastern, Greater Accra and Brong Ahafo Regions to visit the nature’s beautiful creature. As at midday, about 700 tourists had visited the site. 

Some took advantage to swim while others walked to catch the glimpse of the umbrella rock. 

Mr. Afram said efforts are being made to carry out an expansion work to make the site more attractive to both local and foreign tourists.
