Woman arrested for attempting to sell daughter of rival Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested a woman at Patrensa in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality for allegedly attempting to sell a two and a half year old daughter of her rival. The suspect, who has 11 biological children, is currently at the custody of the Kumasi Central Police pending investigations while the Police are on the heels of her husband whose name has been given only as Usif. A resident of Patrensa and an eyewitness told Radio Ghana that the Police managed to arrest the woman yesterday at Konongo when a Police woman showed interest in buying the girl for 25 thousand Cedis after a successful bargain from the initial 30 thousand Cedi offer. Reports say the child stays with her father, Usif who is a driver, and the suspect her stepmother at Patensa while the biological mother of the victim, now pregnant with her second child, also stays at Pekyirekye in the Asante Akyem North district. According to eye witness, the father has been complaining of difficult economic circumstances. He allegedly conspired with the suspect to trade off his daughter to raise enough money to procure his own vehicle to ran a taxi. The suspect therefore discussed with a woman who, unknowingly to her, is a Police officer, to help her and the husband find a prospective buyer of the child. The Police woman then showed interest in buying the child for a male friend staying abroad who needed a child of his own. The Police woman, with the help of others, arranged and met the suspect to finalise arrangements for the purchase of the child. It was when they met at Konongo that the suspect was arrested, but the man managed to escape. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
