PIAC inspects road projecs in Kintampo South district The monitoring of oil revenue funded projects by PIAC and a team of Journalists from the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists entered its third day Yesterday, Wednesday, with a visit to Mim in the Kintampo South district of the Bono-Ahafo Region. The team inspected the four-point-three kilometre bitumen surfacing Mim town roads. The project was awarded in 2012 to Messrs Shamma Rohl through competitive bidding. The contract sum was two million,449 thousand 730 Ghana Cedis. The estimated cost was three million 114 thousand 643 Ghana Cedis. But the contractor finally spent two million 199 thousand 177 Ghana Cedis, there by saving some money which went back to government. The Operations Manager,Feeder Roads Department Brong and Ahafo Region, Kwadwo Asare Baffuor who briefed the team at the site said there was a 40 percent oil revenue component but could not provide the actual figure. Mr. Asare Baffuor said the four-point-three kilometre road included other link roads but one-point-eight kilometres of this has been 100 percent complete with prima seal awaiting the final seal with bitumen. He said the contractor and the Supervisors from Feeder Roads collaborated effectively to get that portion of the road finished and handed it to Urban Roads for the final stage. At the end of the inspection the Leader of the team and Chairman of PIAC Dr. Steve Manteaw briefed Journalists on the monitoring team. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
