Mixed reactions greet investigation into Kwasi Nyantakyi 

Sports Analyst Benjamin Willie Graham says it will be in the best interest of GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi to step aside for investigations to be conducted into the alleged case of fraud against him referred to the CID by the President. 

President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo Tuesday announced that he has reported the GFA President  to the Police CID after watching except of an investigative piece by ace investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas where Mr Nyantakyi is said to have used the name of the President and some top government officials  for his personnel gain. 

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme “Focus,” Mr. Graham said in the interest of Mr. Nyantakyi and Ghana football he should step aside for full investigations into the case and if he is exonerated he can resume his position. 

He said the ethics committee of the Ghana Football Association should do the honourable thing by asking the FA President to step aside.

Head of Radio Sports, George Lartey, said the media trial of Mr. Nyantakyi before the airing of the full investigative piece, is unfortunate. 

He said though there have been allegations of corruption in Ghana's football administration, people should be circumspect in their public discourse on the issue.

Meanwhile, a Private Legal Practitioner Martin Kpebi, said the initial communications from the Presidency,  causing the arrest of Mr. Nyantakyi was wrong. 

He said per the country's criminal code, the President cannot direct the Police as to how to perform its duties. 

He urged people at the Presidency to communicate rightly to the public to avoid misinformation.
