7-year development policy to propel economy - Minister
 
The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour says government's seven-year economic and social development programme, dubbed, ‘’Agenda for Jobs, Creating Prosperity and Equal Opportunity for All’,  will aid in guiding government's economic policies, create optimistic self-governance and make opportunities available to every citizen. 

According to him, the policy will revitalize the economy, strengthen social protection and protect delivery of economic policies. 

It aims at propelling the nation’s economy to the level where more jobs will be created and citizens will be the beneficiaries. 

Mr. Darfour made this known at the Regional Dissemination on Co-ordinated Programme for Economic and Social Development Policies in Koforidua. 

He said the growth of a country is based on infrastructural development, safe drinking water, good roads and better sanitation, among others and urged policy makers to channel their efforts towards that direction. 

On his part, the Minister for Planning, Prof. George Gyan Baffour, said the policy which was launched by  President Akufo-Addo in April last year, will serve as basis for economic transformation and the preparation of future budgets. 

He added that it will also serve as an indicator for assessing the progress of the various development projects of the nation, as well as help in the planning of programmes and policies to accelerate development.
