Special Courts to be established to deal with ‘galamsey’ The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources through the Judicial Service will establish mining courts at Tarkwa, Dunkwa on Offin, Obuasi and Prestea to deal swiftly with cases related to mining. Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio announced this in Kumasi when he addressed a corps of volunteers against galamsey. He appealed to the judiciary to strictly apply the laws on individuals who flout the country's mining regulations. He said the Ministry is in talks with the Chief Justice to make punishment of galamsey more punitive.
