Ghana to experience total lunar eclipse on July 27

In the month of July, the world will be witnessing the second total lunar eclipse of 2018.

This will be visible in parts of Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. 

The entire event will last for 103 minutes across the world, the longest total lunar eclipse in the 21st century. 

The lunar eclipse will begin Fri, 27 Jul 2018 at 18:11 GMT; Maximum: 20:21 GMT and end 23:28 GMT (Duration:  5 hours, 17 minutes).

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes within Earth's umbra (shadow). As the eclipse begins, Earth's shadow first darkens the Moon slightly. Then, the shadow begins to "cover" part of the Moon, turning it a dark red-brown color.
