Ban on small Scale mining to be lifted after launch of Multisectoral Mining Integrated Project

Minister of Lands and Natural Resources John Peter Amewu says his ministry has not lost momentum and focus in the fight against galamsey. 

He said the ministry is now focusing more on how to sanitize the land administration system. Speaking to journalists he said very soon the government will launch the Multi-sectoral Mining Integrated Project, MMIP which will culminate in the lifting of the ban on small scale mining. 

He said currently, the ministry is auditing the licenses of small scale miners to ensure conformity with the mining laws.
