NYA CEO debunkes rumors of free laptops for online trainees The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Agency (NYA), Emmanuel Sin-nyet Asigri, has debunked rumors that laptops will be provided to participants of the Online Marketing and Entrepreneurship programme. He said, instead, they will be given customized tablets, fully loaded with data bundle to aid their work. Mr. Asigri was speaking at the Graduation Ceremony for participants who took part in the three-month programme in Koforidua. He added that the Eastern Region is the sixth to benefit from the initiative and commended participants for exhibiting good behavior during the course of the programme. He said, the training programme will make participants more productive on the job market and asked for cooperation of stakeholders to ensure the success of the initiative. Mr. Asigri advised participants to be patient in searching for jobs, since according to him, ‘’Rome was not built in a day’’. For his part, the Eastern Regional Director of the NYA, Samuel Afari Agyiri, said, since unemployment and underemployment are amongst the biggest problems facing the country, the programme is very necessary and urged participants to be change managers in the various societies. He was grateful to all stakeholders for the successes chalked thus far and asked for more support from all and sundry. The consultant of the programme, James Addo also said, participants were drawn from the twenty-six districts and municipalities in the region and were trained on Entrepreneurship, Online Marketing and Graphic Designing. He opined that graduants have been adequately trained for the job market, as well as to establish their own businesses and was grateful to the National Youth Agency for the initiative. Students who excelled at the end of the programme were honored including Jerry Adu, Wilfried Osei Fosu and James Nartey, who were adjudged as the best among the rest. The Online Marketing and Entrepreneurship Programme which was launched by the National Youth Authority in February this year, witnessed the training of two hundred and sixty-five participants over a period of three months.
