Climate change impacts fragile river ecosystems

According to a new study, Climate change could cause a "catastrophic loss of species" in South Africa's world famous Kruger National Park. 

Scientists measured the impact of extreme floods in 2000 and 2012 on Kruger’s rivers by airborne laser surveys. It came to light that the rivers need more than a decade to recover.

Kruger is a dry land area, like nearly 70 percent of Africa, making it vulnerable to climate change.  South Africa on the other hand, is predicted to have more cyclones.
