The Daily Graphic writes on confidence in the Banking sector. The paper says last year, the Bank of Ghana revoked the licences of UT and Capital Banks, described as insolvent. According to the paper, Ghanaians over the period have witnessed a quantum leap in the breadth and authority of the Bank of Ghana's Financial Supervision and Regulations, which is commendable. The Daily Graphic is of the opinion that every possible step must be taken to ensure that the public does not lose confidence in the banking sector because of the critical inter mediation role it plays in the economy.

The Ghanaian Times says the revelation by the Peasant Farmers Association that some persons have used identification cards of the dead and aged to register for inputs under the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme last year is worrying. It is against this backdrop that the paper is appealing to policy makers and stakeholders of the programme to strengthen monitoring and evaluation. It also urges the programme managers not to downplay the findings of the Peasant Farmers Association but take on board the feedbacks as it will help to reshape and fine- tune the programme to benefit the targeted groups and the country at large.

The Daily Heritage says the campaign against illicit drugs must be intensified. It says although efforts have been made to win the war against drugs, available statistics shows that Ghana appears to be losing the fight against illicit drugs. The paper states that the World Drug Report 2014 for example paints a gloomy picture, where Ghana is reported to have surpassed Jamaica in the usage of drugs. It says the indicators portend trouble, particularly at a time when pupils are getting addicted. In the paper's view, it is time to scale up the campaign and enforce the law to save millions of Ghana's youth from substance abuse.
