Appointments Committee endorses Deputy Special Prosecutor for approval

Members of the Appointments Committee of Parliament have unanimously recommended the approval of Madam Cynthia Jane Naa Koshie Lamptey as the Deputy Special Prosecutor. 

The vetting of Madam Lamptey took place earlier today with members of the committee focusing on her qualifications and capabilities.  

The Chairman of the Committee, Joseph Osei-Wusu said  members were satisfied  that the nominee was qualified for the job.  

There have been concerns about the delay in getting an office space and staff for the Office of the Special Prosecutor several months after Martin Amidu was confirmed. 

The Majority Leader, Osei- Kyei- Mensah Bonsu said a lot is being done to set up the office of the Special Prosecutor.  

Earlier, the Deputy Special Prosecutor nominee, Jane Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey, said she will never engage any relative or acquaintance should she be in the position to employ people. 

She asked public officials to exercise moral integrity to avoid the temptation of employing relatives or people they have direct influence over. 

Madam Naa Koshie Lamptey was answering questions during her vetting in Accra yesterday (May 16).

She also added that she will resign if she is sidelined or notices any interference in the performance of her duties as Deputy Special Prosecutor.

The Deputy Special Prosecutor nominee said if given the nod, she is prepared to work assiduously and in humility with the Special Prosecutor.
