Deputy Special Prosecutor faces vetting May 16

Deputy Special Prosecutor nominee, Madam Jane Cynthia Naa Korshie Lamptey, will Wednesday face Parliament's appointments committee for vetting. 

Her appearance before the 26 member committee of the legislature is in accordance with  Article 78 of the 1992 constitution which gives the House the power to approve or disapprove the President's nominees. 

Madam Lamptey, a former Director of Public Prosecutions at the Attorney General's Department, is a lawyer with 30 years at the Bar. 

If approved, Madam Lamptey will be Deputy to Martin Alamisi Amidu, the Special Prosecutor. 

Madam Lamptey's nomination, contained in a letter addressed to the speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye, was communicated to members of the House at the emergency meeting in Accra a fortnight ago where it was referred to the Appointments Committee.
